It’s not too late to join our self-love challenge

It’s official! Our Find Your Awesome 30-day self-love challenge has launched. Today  is Day 1: We’re texting love, talking about the stories we tell ourselves, and acknowledging how those stories (for better AND worse) shape the way we move in the world. I’ve got so much planned for the next 30 days: daily challenges (taken from my illustrated creative journal, Find Your Awesome), daily emails of love and encouragement, fun animated videos to entertain and inspire, and a private Facebook group where we can talk about our experiences and help each other do this self-love thing (which really shouldn’t be as hard as it so often is).… Read more

Let’s all Find Our Awesome together

So much to share! First, we created a new animated video all about the Find Your Awesome 30-day Self-Love Challenge that starts May 15th. My own life has been pretty chaotic and stressful lately. I need this challenge and this community as much as anyone, and I’m incredibly psyched by the enthusiastic response so far. If it’s true that there is strength in numbers (and of course it is), then this challenge is going to be a force for transformation, peopled by the most amazing posse of self-love warriors ever.… Read more

It’s almost here!

You guys, my illustrated creative journal, Find Your Awesome: A 30-Day Challenge to Fall in Love with Your  Playful, Imaginative, & Colorful self, comes out next month. Next month! I’m very excited. In fact, this illustration (from the book) looks just like me right now. The book is divided into 30 days. Each day, I suggest a self-loving theme, and a way to bring that theme to life.… Read more

Mindful Living is here (plus, freebies)

Update: Via eyes-closed, wand-wielding, magic, winners have been picked! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have so many things I want to write about now, so much on my mind – the aftermath of an election that has left the country more divided than ever (and left me uncharacteristically pessimistic); my father’s death in December, our complicated relationship, and the unwieldy nature of grief; my plans and wishes for the year ahead; the magic healing power of art and creative exploration… I will be writing (and illustrating) about all of that in the weeks ahead.… Read more

Happy Halloween!

I’m working on a post about love and kindness and how we move on after this election. As you might have guessed, it’s a hard post to get a hold of. So, in the meantime, I drew you some spooky skulls.   Happy Halloween! xo  … Read more

Express yourself!

Hey friends, I’m excited to tell you about two new offerings! First, Inkspirations Color Me Postcards are now available online, in stores, and in my Etsy shop! The come in a nifty little book of 32 perforated pages, which you can tear out, color and send, either on their own or in an envelope. Here’s one of the illustrations I did for the book… And here’s the actual postcard all colored to show you how cute they are once you color them… And here’s the back because I love the backs.… Read more

The 10 best things I learned on vacation

Last month, Chad and I went on vacation. We took 10 days to drive from where we live, on the eastern tip of the San Francisco Bay area, to Anacortes, Washington, and back again. To say it was a much-needed adventure is an understatement. This past year has been surprising and wonderful, but it’s also been relentlessly frenetic and challenging. We were two human sized stress balls in need of some serious leisure time (or decidedly UN-serious leisure time, as the case may be).… Read more

Art For The Fun Of It (the big finish)

And another 30-day challenge comes to an end. What a blast I had with this one (and anyone who’s followed me long enough knows that isn’t always the case with my challenges). I think the key to my success was to do all the art in my sketchbook. I can’t tell you how seriously I DID NOT take the art that I created because it was my sketchbook, and that’s not where where I do my client work.… Read more

Art for the fun of it (the love edition)

Art For The Fun Of It continues, and I have to say that this is the most fun I’ve ever had doing a 30-day challenge. I pop open my sketchbook at the end of every day, after I’ve crossed the last thing from my to-do list, had dinner, and cleaned up the kitchen. That’s when I sit down with my sketchbook and pens and think, “Now for the fun stuff…” … like these doodly waves (which I think would look really fun in shades of blue and green, as ocean waves in a larger piece)…   … and these doodly arrows.… Read more

Art for the fun of it (half way through my 30-day challenge)

I’m just past the half-way point of my Art For The Fun Of It 30-day challenge. Here are this week’s masterpieces of play! I’m also using this challenge to work on my photography skills. I just set up a table for painting and photographing in a windowed corner of my work space. The light is so much better there. All I need to do now is master my camera.… Read more

Art for the fun of it (sketchbook heaven)

And my Art For The Fun Of It 30-day challenge continues! Look at all these happy little guys! It took a few nights to finish my Red & Black experiment, but I had a lot of fun with it. I took a first night progress shot of my Puddle-wonderful doodle, which was inspired (obviously?) by the ee cummings poem, “in Just,” which I love.… Read more
