It’s not too late to join our self-love challenge

It’s official! Our Find Your Awesome 30-day self-love challenge has launched. Today  is Day 1: We’re texting love, talking about the stories we tell ourselves, and acknowledging how those stories (for better AND worse) shape the way we move in the world. I’ve got so much planned for the next 30 days: daily challenges (taken from my illustrated creative journal, Find Your Awesome), daily emails of love and encouragement, fun animated videos to entertain and inspire, and a private Facebook group where we can talk about our experiences and help each other do this self-love thing (which really shouldn’t be as hard as it so often is).… Read more

Let’s all Find Our Awesome together

So much to share! First, we created a new animated video all about the Find Your Awesome 30-day Self-Love Challenge that starts May 15th. My own life has been pretty chaotic and stressful lately. I need this challenge and this community as much as anyone, and I’m incredibly psyched by the enthusiastic response so far. If it’s true that there is strength in numbers (and of course it is), then this challenge is going to be a force for transformation, peopled by the most amazing posse of self-love warriors ever.… Read more

I have so much good planned. Come see!) Why do you need a self-love challenge?… Read more

FIND YOUR AWESOME is here!

Friends, I’m so incredibly excited and proud to announce that today is the official release date for my illustrated creative journal, FIND YOUR AWESOME! Check out my fun, animated book trailer, made possible by creative mastermind Dillon Wall. It includes illustrations and words taken right from the book. I poured my whole writerly, doodly, love-warrior-self into this book because I believe that if we could learn to love ourselves as ardently and sincerely as we love others, we could change the world.… Read more

Art For The Fun Of It (the big finish)

And another 30-day challenge comes to an end. What a blast I had with this one (and anyone who’s followed me long enough knows that isn’t always the case with my challenges). I think the key to my success was to do all the art in my sketchbook. I can’t tell you how seriously I DID NOT take the art that I created because it was my sketchbook, and that’s not where where I do my client work.… Read more

Art for the fun of it (the love edition)

Art For The Fun Of It continues, and I have to say that this is the most fun I’ve ever had doing a 30-day challenge. I pop open my sketchbook at the end of every day, after I’ve crossed the last thing from my to-do list, had dinner, and cleaned up the kitchen. That’s when I sit down with my sketchbook and pens and think, “Now for the fun stuff…” … like these doodly waves (which I think would look really fun in shades of blue and green, as ocean waves in a larger piece)…   … and these doodly arrows.… Read more

Art for the fun of it (half way through my 30-day challenge)

I’m just past the half-way point of my Art For The Fun Of It 30-day challenge. Here are this week’s masterpieces of play! I’m also using this challenge to work on my photography skills. I just set up a table for painting and photographing in a windowed corner of my work space. The light is so much better there. All I need to do now is master my camera.… Read more

Art for the fun of it (sketchbook heaven)

And my Art For The Fun Of It 30-day challenge continues! Look at all these happy little guys! It took a few nights to finish my Red & Black experiment, but I had a lot of fun with it. I took a first night progress shot of my Puddle-wonderful doodle, which was inspired (obviously?) by the ee cummings poem, “in Just,” which I love.… Read more

Art for the fun of it (in full swing)

My “Art For The Fun Of It” 30-Day Challenge is on!

The challenge officially started on the 1st and will continue through the month of June, but I started a few days early because – holy wow! – I’d forgotten how much fun it is to draw in a sketchbook without any intention of selling the result. I. Am. Loving. This.… Read more

Art for the fun of it (getting intentional)

I came away from Oprah and Deepak’s latest 21-day meditation experience with three really important ideas. I’ve written about two of them already: the importance of cultivating awe in our lives,  and the notion that nearly everything we do either adds to or diminishes our personal power. The third big idea? Setting intentions. Yes, I know that setting intentions isn’t a new or surprising idea, but the reason every personal development guru tells us to do it is because it works.… Read more

The elemental act of creation itself

My 30 Days Of Hand Lettering challenge has ended and the most important thing I learned is something I already knew: the best way to get your creative juices flowing is to create. Whenever I do these 30 day creative challenges (and anyone who’s doing NaNoWriMo right now will back me up on this), I am reminded of the value of a daily practice, especially the practice of creation, pure and simple.… Read more
