A kiss is a lovely thing

So far on my quest to beckon the lovely, I’ve made a grand entrance, made a friend, and made something pretty. Today…

Kiss makeup!

kiss and make-up 1

What?

Oh, right it was “kiss AND make up.” Well, what can I can I say? I didn’t piss anyone off last week, so there was no need to kiss and make up.

I know. It doesn’t quite rise to the level of “lovely” but it’s fun, and hopefully it made you laugh. It made me laugh. I realized, as I studied a picture of Paul Stanley, that I’ve never used face paint on myself before. So it was a first! Now if you weren’t as nice as I was last week, go do something lovely – kiss and make up for real!

Next Monday: Make do with what I have!

—————————————————————————-

And now for something completely different… These kitty pictures are so cute, and the captions so funny, I think it more than makes up for the absence of a Caption This post last Friday. Enjoy!

Oh you’re so sweet :) Love how you found a way to do what the list asked with a twist :P

PS: so good to have you back again!

Love the kiss makeup. And yes it made me laugh.

Your hair looks FABULOUS in that photo.

My only question is were you wearing Paul’s shoes too? Do you know the ones I mean? The huge stacked platforms?
    What?
Nobody else was a member of the kiss army?
(not really. but I lived through that time frame with friends living the kiss frenzy around me and survived it with only a couple of minor shrapnel hits….and yes, I can sing most of the songs)
    [sigh]

Welcome back sweetie! When do we get to see your “tan”?

    :0)

Judy – so funny, I’m ROTFLMAO . Have a little Paul/Kiss tidbit for you.
And Karen – I too remember the platform shoes!

Did you know – Having majored in art, Stanley graduated from the acclaimed Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City – the school that the movie and television show Fame were based on.

Nice to have you post again, missing my daily fix, Hope you keep posting for 100,000 years,

    Mairi

And that is a fabulous picture.

    Funny, very funny.

I’ll wait til you triple dog dare…..

  7. renee August 24, 2009 at 8:11 am #

Judy you are adorable. I saw KISS July 30. Awsome! Makeup ,timing, costumes and FIRE of course. If you only get to see one concert in a lifetime this is the group to see.

Hey Starchild, can you break out in a chorus of “Beth” for me??

I like the interpretation of the list more than a straight following anyway! Plus, I read it as two items from the beginning. Kiss AND make up. You should have just tossed on some easy, breezy Cover Girl and grabbed the guy/girl pouring your coffee and let the day roll! But that was good too!!

  9. Tim August 24, 2009 at 8:59 am #

I can’t stop laughing – that was brilliant! You’re getting ahead of yourself on that list (at least up to number 6). Planning to start a band?

  10. judy August 24, 2009 at 9:32 am #

Estrella, Thank you! It’s good to be posting. Otherwise I just have all these Zebra Sounds ideas knocking around my brain. It’s very noisy.

Karen, Definitely remember the shoes. I had flip flops on… Not even close! (Squint when you look at the picture. My tan is clearly visible!)

Mairi, I did not know that Paul Stanley fact, but I was singing Rock and Roll All Night as soon as I had the makeup on. And Dr. Love too… Weird.

Terre, Yes, I can’t believe I waited so long to use face paint. I look fabulous in it! ;-)

Renee, I thought about getting a fake roll-out tongue, but Gene Simmons’s makeup looked too hard for me to tackle.

Bobby, I did (grab the coffee man and let the day roll). I drew crowds everywhere we went. Until I started singing Beth. Then no one can clear a room like I can!

Tim, You’re right in that this one could be used for, like, the next three items on the list (especially if I sing a Kiss song)! And if I made your day, my work here is done! ;-)

  11. jb August 24, 2009 at 10:37 am #

another great interpretation of the list. fabulous makeup – you look fantastic! perhaps you will be converted to my favorite holiday yet – halloween! well done – as always! way to come back in style. missed you big time! :-D

Clever, funny, foxy, multi-tasking wizard with amazing hair . . . you’re gonna’ have to get a flaw really soon!! Sheez. Time to call your parents and thank them for those great genes ;-) I know you’re a hard worker, but then, do we kind of get that from our family too? Or, rather, the crap shoot of our gene pool — I don’t know. Whatever it is, you’re in the Pink ;-) and we are so happy to have you back!

  13. karen from mentor August 24, 2009 at 11:57 am #

ok, I squinted and I can kinda see the “tan” looks good. very natural. subtle. [grins]

Were they at least platform flip flops?

And since no triple dog dare seems to be forthcoming …..Beth. And I found an accoustic YouTube version with the guys sans makeup that is actually pretty nice .
I had to go hunting so I could hear the whole thing and get it out of my head.
(hair of the dog and all that)

Ask and I’ll send it to you.

I didn’t want to rudely embed it.
    and give you kissoverload.
I’m pretty sure you could cure that with pancakes though.
    [give that a minute]

I’m going to check that link! I’ve always thought that was a beautiful song — they don’t get enough credit for all their ‘ground breaking’ etc. I saw something in a Metal documentary once that talked about how the over -promoting of Kiss (I think beyond their control) kind of took away from their true talent and contribution to the history of Rock/Metal. Of course now we see clips of Gene Simmons on some reality show — I guess he has the ‘lead singer disease’ — not sure.

  15. judy August 24, 2009 at 1:10 pm #

jb, Actually, you know I could come around on Halloween. This wasn’t too hard, and if it constitutes a costume, then maybe I could get into the scariest of holidays.

Carey, I LOVE the rose colored glasses you wear when you view all things j! When I was looking for a good picture to copy, I found a site that showed pictures of how each band member’s makeup evolved. Interesting. (Or I thought so anyway.)

Karen, Post the link, baby! I love Beth!

    Here you go darlin,

  17. Craig Wieczorkiewicz August 24, 2009 at 5:01 pm #

Not to burst everyone’s bubble, but … Peter Criss sang “Beth,” not Paul Stanley. Therefore you cannot expect Judy to sing “Beth” unless she changes the makeup and grabs a drum kit.

(ducks from stuff being thrown in general direction)

With that said, I absolutely love that you went the KISS route with this one! (And I’m not even a KISS fan — it’s just spectacularly cool that you interpreted this week’s quest that way!)

    Welcome back, Judy!

  18. judy August 24, 2009 at 5:15 pm #

    Thank you, Karen!

Craig, I love that you sail in with truth-in-music reporting. You should consider journalism as a career… (insert sheepish grin here). Thank you for the spectacular welcome back!

  19. BOBBY August 24, 2009 at 7:52 pm #

“truth in music reporting” ? — Criss not Stanley sang the song “beth” ? — bubbles bursting ? — Oh my gosh, I am hoping their are some tongues planted firmly in cheeks/ impish grins/ left eye winks going on here today?!

I make one fun comment about having Judy sing a chorus of beth and the powers of journalistic ethics are bouncing all around! You would think I led the guests of the blog down a harrowing path of ignorance without room for a u-turn!

At least you left that poor guy in the band alone for wearing the star over the wrong eye for all those many years. I know that to be true based on Judy’s picture! Waaaay to show restraint!!

    — Disclaimer: The above words were all typed with the left eye winking continuously and a grin that could lead the next holiday impish parade on a float entitled “Interpretation”!

  20. judy August 24, 2009 at 8:12 pm #

Bobby, No worries, my tongue was firmly planted in my cheek, and Craig can’t help it if he is, in fact, a jornalist. But now that I’ve been outed, I have to admit that when I realized it was the wrong eye, I could have still reversed it. I didn’t because, well… there was really no telling whether we could get such a nice 5-point star outline again. Yes, it’s true! I let expediency and a crisis of confidence get in the way of accuracy!

  21. BOBBY August 24, 2009 at 8:27 pm #

Oh brother, like I care which eye, cheek (facial or otherwise) , elbow , etc., that star was placed! I liked the concept!

Plus, like I said before — I was never a KISS fan, until today!

  22. Carey Jones August 24, 2009 at 9:12 pm #

Loved watching that video, thank you Karen and thank you Judy!

  23. Tim August 24, 2009 at 9:34 pm #

I’m back to vote again for the band. I’ve been thinking about our local all-girl band “The Donnas” all day. Yours could be just as good! Call it J’s Kiss Revival, “Kiss Again”, or (punning Metallica) “Judys Kiss”?

Is Sheryl Crow doing anything these days? Courtney Love? Chrissie Hynde?
